Vampire Academy #2: Frostbite

Rose loves Dimitri, Dimitri might love Tasha, and Mason would die to be with Rose. It's winter break at St. Vladimir's, but Rose is feeling anything but festive. A massive Strigoi attack has put the school on high alert, and now the Academy's crawling with Guardians–including Rose's hard-hitting mother, Janine Hathaway. And if hand-to-hand combat with her mom wasn't bad enough, Rose's tutor Dimitri has his eye on someone else, her friend Mason's got a huge crush on her, and Rose keeps getting stuck in Lissa's head while she's making out with her boyfriend, Christian! The Strigoi are closing in, and the Academy's not taking any risks...This year, St. Vlad's annual holiday ski trip is mandatory. But the glittering winter landscape and the posh Idaho resort only create the illusion of safety. When three friends run away in an offensive move against the deadly Strigoi, Rose must join forces with Christian to rescue them. But heroism rarely comes without a price...

This is better than I thought it would be! This sequel to Vampire Academy has very nice, neat and well-paced. Huge improvement to the plot and in character development. I specifically got super thrilled with the actions and snide comments with a sense of humor that I can’t hold to stifle a laugh or snort. Probably one would have already noticed my weirdness and real creepy around books while I was at public places reading Frostbite haha!

I just knew this series has its interesting glow that will pull me to read it and really read it to view my opinions clearly enough that it’s beyond good. YES it has proved it and impressed me especially Rose.
Oh Roza. Haha!

She changed in a way she never thought was possible. But her changes to the perspective she had before coming back to St. Vladimir – was all her doings and maybe part of it was Dimitri. Here comes Dimitri plays a huge role. Without him, she would still probably planning to do better yet rebellious or uncontrollable, unstable of her thoughts of how to save Lissa from all of Stigoi (and Moroi) and out of the academy.
The connection between Dimitri and Rose might be a little weird because of age difference but that it isn’t the whole problem. I realized something that in reality as well, you can’t possibly push aside your love for someone and force it to the one you SHOULD be with instead of who you WANT to be with. I tell you this: go for the guy you ache for so much he’s breaking your heart; even a glance, he’s already got you and he feels the same about you. Go with what the heart wants. Don’t force love on anyone. Be honest of how you really feel and send it across to that someone straightforward.

So far nothing has been planned to make it for any escape routes. Rose realizes and understands that she could use the extra training in the academy to train to be a certified guardian. Doing it for both her and Lissa. Good choice for her. Indeed it is starting to pay off.

Particularly, Rose and her mother Janine patching things up with each other was one that I had gotten all really emotional, kind of. A mother in childhood is really important in our first stage not that I’m saying father aren’t as important as mother can be to their child. A mother will always be there to take care of you and I believe I remember Mother’s Day is coming up! :)

I like that her issue with her mother not being there for her was brought up in the book. I really am happy about this! Family problem should instantly be taken care of whatever it is, should be dealt with. Acceptance and forgiveness doesn’t come easily however Rose did eventually and understood her mother even better  after what has happened to her and her friends.

There’s a new character introduced to the readers, Adrian Ivashkov, I particularly like the fact that he is a kind of a distraction, pretty interesting too - of how he was introduced. Distraction -in a not so bad of a situation. He might actually brought something of a light to the book in a way. I can’t even described it well either like Rose. Mysterious, partially dark. I like him— secrets of his own that he doesn’t want to be revealing too much. No more or less - just balanced. My impression whenever he appears in the book: “we’ve got to find out more about him! Have to! Inevitable! There’s something about him!” Yep, he's THAT intriguing!

Page-turner! A book so riveting! Not even people can lure me away from reading the series! I didn’t see it coming  that it'd be so addictive! I can’t seem to stop! I’m now reading Shadow Kiss, the 3rd book in the series. For vampire fiction with romance, action-packed and for a good thrill lovers, you’ll definitely need to get these books and the rest of 'em. GET THEM all in your shelves if you can afford and get to reading it!
