Tomorrow Girls series: Behind The Gates

I always do not know how to start but when I get to the end, i start rambling and words keep flowing out lol… First of all, I read the book for 1 day only and I’m done. Eva Gray is a great author! I am going to read the next book in the series which is, Run For Cover. Looking forward!

In a terrifying future world, four girls must depend on each other if they want to survive.

Louisa is nervous about being sent away to a boarding school — but she’s excited, too. And she has her best friend, Maddie, to keep her company. The girls have to pretend to be twin sisters, which Louisa thinks just adds to the adventure!

Country Manor School isn’t all excitement, though. Louisa isn’t sure how she feels about her new roommates: athletic but snobby Rosie and everything’s-a-conspiracy Evelyn. Even Maddie seems different away from home, quiet and worried all the time.

Still, Louisa loves CMS — the survival skills classes, the fresh air. She doesn’t even miss not having a TV, or the internet, or any contact with home. It’s for their own safety, after all.
Or is it?

Louisa and Maddie were sent to Country Manor School while the war between America and Alliance is taking place. They were sent there by their parents, knowing that both of the girls will be kept safe there. Louisa and Maddie met Evelyn, who investigates that things are weird around CMS. Louisa didn’t see it that way though. In fact, she loves staying there like it’s home.
CMS (girls’ school) teaches all girls survival skills, outdoor activities, etc.

I felt irritated at Louisa at the middle because she thinks that things around CMS is all that great. I know learning new things is totally cool but what I wasn’t cool about was that, she didn’t mind the people who are out in the war. She don’t really mind staying in CMS and have a great time. I think if Evelyn didn’t came along, I don’t think she’ll be able to go through the theories in her head like Evelyn did. Louisa will probably just keep thinking that, they are really there for their own “safety”. Don’t mind me, that’s just my opinion. All is great, though. She finally see the theory Evelyn was always predicting.

I won’t spill things out. You guys have to read the book! It’s really awesome! I can’t wait to read the next book the series!!!

P.S. These girls are really brave—beginning till the end. I really like that they have the courage to stand up for what is right. :)

Let’s start with something more basic.

“…Isn’t it strange that I know you’d risk your life to save mine… but I don’t know what your favorite color is?” he says.
A smile creeps on to my lips. “Green. What’s yours?”
“Orange,” he says.
“Orange? Like Effie’s hair?” I say.
“A bit more muted,” he says. “More like… sunset.” ~Peeta Mellark and Katniss Everdeen, Catching Fire

Photo by me, using Canon EOS. ;)
Sunset. I can see it immediately, the rim of the descending sun, the sky streaked with soft shades of orange. Beautiful. ~Katniss Everdeen, Catching Fire

Taken by me- using my Sony phone, my fave-old phone. I love sunsets too. <3

Deadly Cool

What can I say? I LOVE LOVE the story of this book! Thumbs up to Gemma Halliday for a great mystery story with main characters Hartley Featherstone, Sam, Chase who I find really awesome investigating the crime (i’ll get more to this later). I really really want to know what happens next! Social Suicide comes out next year – I GOTTA HAVE TO READ IT! Same to you out there! Get this book and get the solving the mystery!

First I find out that my boyfriend is cheating on me. Then he’s pegged as the #1 suspect in a murder. And now he’s depending on me to clear his name. Seriously?

As much as I wouldn’t mind watching him squirm, I know that he’s innocent. So I’m brushing off my previously untapped detective skills and getting down to business. But I keep tripping over dead bodies, and I’m still no closer to figuring out who did it. And what’s worse: all signs seem to point to me as the killer’s next victim.I really need to pick a better boyfriend next time.

Interested, yet? I’m sure you are excited to find out what comes next, eh? Gotta read it! Such a cool book! What I love about the book is that, it has…ok, well, Hartley was just a normal teen who wants a normal life in this stage of her life but when a dead body was found in her boyfriend’s closet…all she wanted was just to find out and talk everything out with Josh DuPont. Hartley believes Josh didn’t kill their schoolmate and she wanted to know in order to help her ex-boyfriend, the police are after. Hartley started investigating from there with her best friend, Sam. Chase was kind enough to lend a helping hand investigating with both of the girls.

I like the way this book was kind of like Nancy Drew but with a partner in crime solving who is Chase. At first, I REALLY DID ACCUSE CHASE KILLING THEIR SCHOOLMATE. I guess it made me think that way because of his black and black and black outfit. LOL. Anyway, I won’t spill the beans. But I LOVE CHASE ERIKSON than JOSH DuPont! LOL. I like Josh first though. He is a jerk but not Chase. :P
CSI-like get me going. Haha! CSI and Law & Order. I love the TV show, Law & Order.

P.S. An easy read, really!! These kinds of books, I really get thrilled. Hilarious too! I like the twist in it too!

Go read it bookwormies! Enjoy! :)

Quotes I like in this book: “Caw! Caw, Hartley, caw!”
Chase narrowed his eyes again.
“Sam?”
I nodded. Then crossed to the window again and called down to Sam. “You can quit squawking. He caught me.”

“That craptastical, gutless, son-of-a-cactus-humping butt monkey!!”

Siren

How to start…how to start haha. Let me start saying this… THIS IS AN AWESOME BOOK! GO READ IT! :D What I didn’t know about this book is that it has Greek mythology in it. Ohh how I wanna thank Tricia Rayburn for sharing this book! I love this book she has written and I have to read the 2nd book in the trilogy, Undercurrent! I read only the full 1st chapter on her blog: HERE.

Seventeen-year-old Vanessa Sands is afraid of everything—the dark, heights, the ocean—but her fearless older sister, Justine, has always been there to coach her through every challenge. That is, until Justine goes cliff-diving one night near the family’s vacation house in Maine, and her lifeless body washes up on shore the next day.

Though her parents hope that they’ll be able to find closure back in Boston, Vanessa can’t help feeling that her sister’s death wasn’t an accident. After discovering that Justine was keeping a lot of secrets, Vanessa returns to Winter Harbor, hoping that Justine’s boyfriend might know more. But Caleb has been missing since Justine’s death.

Soon, it’s not just Vanessa who’s afraid. All of Winter Harbor is abuzz with anxiety when another body washes ashore, and panic sets in when the small town becomes host to a string of fatal, water-related accidents in which all the victims are found, horrifically, grinning from ear to ear.

Vanessa turns to Caleb’s brother, Simon, for help, and begins to find herself drawn to him. As the pair tries to understand the sudden rash of creepy drownings, Vanessa uncovers a secret that threatens her new romance—and will change her life forever.

CAREFUL! Spoilery stuffs AHEAD!

While I was reading this book at first, I thought it was all just the murder of her sister. But I didn’t really saw it coming that there was more to see from there. I didn’t even think that it’ll lead to Greek mythology haha! All what was in my head was really mysteries. Believe me the title didn’t really make sense to me then. What I was imagining was, she CAN see ambulance siren (wails of sirens like weee weee with blue, red orange lighting on top. LOL). Please…laugh out loud as you wish, I don’t mind. HAHAHAHA!! I love laughing at my stupid imaginations.

But as the story goes, I understood that I had a poor poor imaginations. It’s those Sirens in the Greek mythology. I see… When I already had the idea of it, I couldn’t stop myself from referring to Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters (Rick Riordan’s) book. It’s because in the Sea of Monsters, Percy and Annabeth had come across Sirens. Those who sings and messed with your brain…something like that. Really indescribable. Yeah. Percy has to cover his ear so as to not hear anything from the Sirens.

Sirens in Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters are horrible and meanies. But let me assure you that Vanessa IS a Siren herself but she’s different from her kind. She’s like Betty (another Siren), kind, doesn’t want to kill or hunt for anyone around Winter Harbor.

There twists and turns – that’s what I love in the book. I even ignored Vanessa’s eyes being silver. Vanessa is a sweet and loving to her older sister and OMGOSH, Simon, Mr Science Guy…OMG! I LOVE BOTH OF THEM together! Especially when the two of them do research stuff…weather/climate stuff. OMGOSH!! SO SWEET. It hurts to me – there’s something Simon didn’t know about her and she’s afraid of telling him the truth.

P.S. I gotta stop here before I go SPAZZING AND SPAZZING OVER SIMON. You know why I SPAZZ a lot about him. First, I really like guys who are so into Science stuffs HAHAHA! Geeky, studious!! EEEEEEKK! Studious guys makes me SWOON. They make you like ‘AH’. Quiet even. MELTS.
Oh I almost forgot. I liked Oliver for keeping up writing history about Winter Harbor. I like the history in the book too! ;)

Lots of happenings in the book too! REALLY LOVE IT!
All right! I got. I really got to go fo real lol. Happy happy reading bookwormies!
Beautiful women ready to lead you to a watery death.

Quotes I like from this book: “Whenever you’re ready, or never at all is totally fine.”
“And then you run. Because the only thing worse than her being gone is that you’re still here.”

Matched

Ally Condie… ah she’s a great author! I love this book! The next book in the trilogy was just out in stores a couple of weeks ago, I think. It’s called, ‘Crossed’. I haven’t started reading it yet. I can’t wait to have it in my hands! In the book..well I thought the book was similar to ‘Delirium’ (Lauren Oliver’s book – read it a few weeks back, check it out here) but to my surprise it just wasn’t. It’s really different.

Cassia has always trusted the Society to make the right choices for her: what to read, what to watch, what to believe. So when Xander’s face appears on-screen at her Matching ceremony, Cassia knows with complete certainty that he is her ideal mate . . . until she sees Ky Markham’s face flash for an instant before the screen fades to black.

The Society tells her it’s a glitch, a rare malfunction, and that she should focus on the happy life she’s destined to lead with Xander. But Cassia can’t stop thinking about Ky, and as they slowly fall in love, Cassia begins to doubt the Society’s infallibility and is faced with an impossible choice: between Xander and Ky, between the only life she’s known and a path that no one else has dared to follow.

That isn’t enough, is it? Yep. You’ve really gotta read it yourself to find out what happen.
Similarity between Matched and Delirium:
  • Government has the choice who you love to have a perfect normal life. Once the choice was made, you have to live your life as it is from that day till the end.
Difference between Matched and Delirium:
  • In Delirium, you can’t say anything about LOVE. It’s forbidden while in Matched, once you’re matched with someone you are to not love anyone else but only the person you matched with – if not, you are going to be an Infraction.
Ah that’s just a taste of these two books. Haha! I actually don’t want to spoil any of you who haven’t read it so I’ll stop from here and tell more a bit of Matched. Maybe not…haha Quite hard to voice out my thoughts.
The Society (found on Tumblr)
Team Xander or Team Ky? TEAM KY. PERIOD. ;)
I’m guessing Cassia will start the rebellion. Or Xander. Or EVERYONE in the Society. BWUAHAHAHA! I can’t wait to read Crossed! AND GUESS WHAT?? I think there’s a movie coming up next year!!! AAAAHHHH!! Matched movie!! I WANT TO AUDITION FOR THIS HAHAHA. Read about the upcoming Matched movie here

Quotes in the book that I like: “Is falling in love with someone’s story the same thing as falling in love with the person himself?”
“It is strange how we hold on to the pieces of the past while we wait for our futures.”
Do not go gentle.

There are more quotes I like, actually but….i gotta leave it like that.

I’m in love with Ky in the book.

He’s such a great character and both him and Cassia exchanges poem, i found that really sweet. Though it hurts to see Xander not knowing what’s going on between them at first but Cassia feel real whenever she’s around Ky. It touched me too with the stories Ky draws and writes for Cassia. How he has been alone for who knows how long and now that he has Cassia, to have faith in and believes, I know they will keep each other safe wherever they are. Ky’s story when he was young hurts..really stab you in the heart. I love this character so much. His bravery stand out to me the most – not giving up so easily. He keeps fighting. I like that about him. Standing alone is hard, especially in the world he’s in. That’s why I really like Aida and Patrick Markham for welcoming him like a son to them when they adopted Ky. They love Ky like their real son. *SNIFFS*
GOTTA. STOP. RAMBLING. Ciao for now and happy reading! :)

Across The Universe

Man you don’t know how amazing this book is until you read it and you realize you just can’t seem to stop. Beth Revis did an amazing debut!! I COULDN’T WAIT FOR MILLION SUNS!!!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!! I read the book for 2 days! I didn’t even sense that time was already slipping so fast! Gosh!! Dystopian and sci-fi is AWESOME! Thanks to Beth Revis!

Amy is a cryogenically frozen passenger aboard the vast spaceship Godspeed. She expects to wake up on a new planet, 300 years in the future. But fifty years before Godspeed’s scheduled landing, Amy’s cryo chamber is unplugged, and she is nearly killed.

Now, Amy is caught inside an enclosed world where nothing makes sense. Godspeed’s passengers have forfeited all control to Eldest, a tyrannical and frightening leader, and Elder, his rebellious and brilliant teenage heir.

Amy desperately wants to trust Elder. But should she? All she knows is that she must race to unlock Godspeed’s hidden secrets before whoever woke her tries to kill again.

How to start… ok. Let’s start how I really think that this may be possible in the future? But you know, I don’t want it to happen to me. It’s MUCH DIFFICULT than living on Earth. Let’s stop here for a while…i can’t seem to wrap my head around the book because lots of things happened in the book. Here’s my tweets (some reply to Beth Revis:
  • @bethrevis your book Across The Universe is SO amazing! Thank you for writing this book! I really love the science fiction you added too! :)
  • @bethrevis while reading Across The Universe, there were a few sec I stopped & just let myself thought about my future. It made me cry :’(
  • @bethrevis I love how Amy is SO into history too. How she was curious about Elder’s descendent. My dad & I were fascinated w/ those stuff :)
  • Across The Universe! I’m so loving the book and wow the next book comes out next year, Million Suns! :’)
  • I might have American blood in me idk. hmm… if only family trees were recorded then, we would know.
  • You think future technology could help us do that? I’m terrified with the idea though. I’m really scares of my future.
  • I was crying about it..makes me sad. :’(
Let me tell you about the part where I cried. I cried where people don’t know about anything…especially when they all are drugged from Phydus. Some people don’t even know what were they injecting in the animals. They thought it’s makes the animals healthier, more meat for them to eat. I cried to that part because…Amy’s mother is a..i can’t really remember what but her mother knows about Biological research thing about DNA. It made me cry :’( Because, one day I would want to be a micro-biologist/pharmacist to help people be cure NOT drugged people and leave everything like that :’(

I’ve also felt fascinated – that the author mentioned Amy likes history! I was amazed that Amy was curious about the past of “Godspeed” (the ship) and to look at the how many generations had passed and really curious how to find Elder’s descendent. It was so awesome! My dad and I talked about history, one day and I was like listening to the stories of war and many more things I didn’t even know. To me, they were like stories but they happened long ago. Now sitting in front of this computer…I would say… I AM SO GRATEFUL TO BE HERE AT PEACE.

Yeah…like from my tweets, have you thought about it too? You know your family tree? From the start…to now..like WOW. If only back then, people recorded it down and passed it on to the next gen. *sigh* We would know. I’m not pretty much kidding about I might have American blood or maybe even Japanese, Chinese..whatever but it might be possible. POSSIBLE in the future when technology is much greater. But I’m really terrified about it.

You know..now that I thought about it, wanting to be pharmacist/micro-biologist one day..I kinda want to make it happen. I mean, I want it to be MY discovery of how to track family trees and many generations. Idk…I’m just being sSOOOO INSANE, maybe hahahaha Maybe this book is to blame for thinking about it. LOLOLOL. This dream I have is in this quote from Isaac Newton: To myself I am only a child playing on the beach, while vast oceans of truth lie undiscovered before me.

I am so scared of going to the future too. No more adults. I AM the adult the children around me will have for protection from something or… anything at all.

Ok..i better as well just stop my rambling here. It’s too much! This book is just great to discuss about in a book club! Haha I don’t have a book club though. Oh well.

P.S. Here’s something interesting… the Project Ark Ship (Godspeed).

Lots of things to see and infos to know about the spaceship! Oh..how I love the space not the ship haha! All right, ciao for now! Don’t forget to explore the site! :)
I’m being delusional about those things… so, don’t listen to a girl insane like me, ok? hahah ;)

Some quotes from the book:
This is my favorite one ― (Elder) “Power isn’t control at all — power is strength, and giving that strength to others. A leader isn’t someone who forces others to make him stronger; a leader is someone willing to give his strength to others that they may have the strength to stand on their own.”
(Amy) “It’s always in the rain..”
(Elder) “And there is nothing between us but rain.
Then there is nothing between us at all.”

Delirium

The book is written by Lauren Oliver. I like the way she makes me feel like I am Lena in the book. I totally approved her good description of places, emotions and everything. I like it when books are very detailed. For a dystopian-romance novel, I didn’t think it would this good!

Before scientists found the cure, people thought love was a good thing. They didn’t understand that once love — the deliria — blooms in your blood, there is no escaping its hold. Things are different now. Scientists are able to eradicate love, and the government demands that all citizens receive the cure upon turning eighteen. Lena Holoway has always looked forward to the day when she’ll be cured. A life without love is a life without pain: safe, measured, predictable, and happy.

But with ninety-five days left until her treatment, Lena does the unthinkable: She falls in love.

It’s pretty absurd to me asking myself…what if LOVE was a disease?? I found that it’s QUITE possible since our world right now is too much on about LOVE but LOVE is what makes us all have PEACE not PAIN. But it hurts reading this book when everything you do has it’s barrier even when you only communicate/closeness to an opposite sex is considered a broken law – even saying LOVE will get you to the rotting cell laid out ready for you in the Crypts. It makes me sad truly. They aren’t at all free. The people who are cured thought they are living their life when truly it is ALL a big lie.

I am very happy that Hanna and Lenna (Magdelena Ella Haloway, her full name) met Alex Warren (his full and real name is Alex Sheathes) and everything that Lena once before frightens, has descended completely. She has open her eyes wide to all what’s really been happening. Thanks to Hanna too in my opinion, haha!
I can’t wait for Pandemonium soon! It’s the next book after this! I’m hoping that everything will be all right that she’ll rescue Alex and that she gets help from the Wild! — I won’t spoil this…you’ve got to read the book if you really wanna know ;)

P.S. I’ve got a couple of songs that will remind me of this book. Barriers by David Archuleta and Love Story by Taylor Swift. You already know why Barriers but not Love Story. Love Story, because Alex like poetry and Lena loves the love story of Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare. Actually, I have to think if this book was like Romeo and Juliet. Well…it was close enough to me. Between Romeo and Juliet, they were forbidden to love each other, right? I pretty much see it in this story but…not completely. It has another different part of the story about Lena’s mom. So yeah… I gotta stop here and enjoy the music!

Love Story by Taylor Swift

“I love you. Remember. They cannot take it.”
“Hate isn’t the most dangerous thing, he’d said. Indifference is.”
“The deadliest of all deadly things: It kills you both when you have it and
when you don’t.”

What Happened To Goodbye

McLean Sweet doesn’t mind. In fact, she welcomes the chance to try on a new persona. Ever since her parents’ divorce, she and her father have been on the move, leaving the unhappy past behind them. Each move had brought a fresh opportunity for McLean to reinvent herself. Perky rah-rah girl. Drama mama. All-round joiner. But here in Lakeview, for the first time she’s putting down roots, making friends, and just tryng to be some she hasn’t been in a long time: herself. Dave has something to do with it. He’s the most real person McLean’s ever met and he thinks he’s falling in love with the REAL McLean. McLean doesn’t even know who that I anymore, but she want to find out—before it’s time to move on again.

I can feel this character. She did a split personality whenever she moves in in new towns. McLean with her dad, the fourth town, they went to was Lakeview and that’s where McLean became real. She didn’t used other names to cover her true personality. McLean has her own reasons for doing it before but because when she met Dave, the most real person she met, not all embarrassed of his past..changed her bit by bit.

Having a divorced parents is really hard…it’s true. But you do not have to change anything about you just to cover up your terrible past. No one’s perfect in this world. That’s what Dave Wade showed McLean too. Nobody’s perfect. Everyone makes mistakes. Even the most genius, prodigy guy you’ll know. He’ll make mistake. There is nothing to cover it for. Don’t ever change your beautiful self. Just be you.

That’s what all I can say about the book. Mostly.

Some SPOILER included - P.S. This is about the #1 interesting titbit I shared, 2 AM. Ok…so, I think I do know about it now. Dave Wade was really just denying the whole real meaning of it in the book, when it is truly, BEYOND friendship. McLean found her 2 AM in the book. It was crazy to me because I STILL CAN’T STOP THINKING ABOUT THIS WHOLE 2 AM THING. Blame Dave Wade for this. So much for being prodigy, advanced physicist. HAHAHAHA!
I’ll stop here and wishes you all HAPPY READING! :)

Tidbits on my current reading so far: What Happened To Goodbye

I’m not really going to my-so-basic review of this book yet, because I am halfway through the book, currently reading it and started only today. I just wanna share some things that got me stop reading for a while. I found interesting things to share for you about this book from Sarah Dessen!

When I got to the point of where Dave Wade (character in the book), mentions about “your 2 AM”, I just couldn’t help but think about the meaning of it! Clearly here’s my tweet:

and unexpectedly someone replied to my random tweet haha! It was a really cool reply btw! I just love her! She’s really sweet auntie to me!

I read her reply tweet to me and I can’t stop laughing out loud sitting on the sofa! I replied to her, saying, true. Idk though if she meant the friendship one or BEYOND friendship. But I guess, she’s referring to “BEYOND relationship”. :)

In the book though, Dave explains to McLean that “2 AM” means… something like friendship, who always be there for you whenever you need them even when it’s late at night and you call ‘em, they are always there for you. But you know I don’t think that’s what he really meant on the book…it’s pretty clear to me that it’s more than that.

(maybe) Last INTERESTING TIDBIT

This tweet I saw a while ago was so close to the story of the book and it makes me sad because I absolutely think that it’s true.

P.S. This is all for now…I can’t really get out all the feelings from the first interesting tidbit. I’m having a hard time explaining my feelings. Yeah…it’s true, i don’t have my own real 2 AM. Trust me..it’s not about boys I’m referring to..I’m actually talking about best friends. Oh well, you’ll never understand me. Thanks all for you concern, really.

NOT TO FORGET —–> Happy #3rdDavidArchuletaAnniversary debut album! @DavidArchie :D

CRUSH – Single

If you want more music…go check David Archuleta today!

If you want some 2 AM song related from the tidbit topic I shared, well I got some, from Taylor Swift! Not really THAT related but at least, the lyrics from her songs has 2 AM in them. I listened to her songs and actually heard lots of 2 AM and it puzzled me, saying, “does it actually have meaning?” Probably, I was lucky to have the answer given by Dave Wade, eh? LOL. ;)

That’s The Way I Loved You
But I’ve been screamin’ and fightin’
And kissin’ in the rain
And it’s

2 a.m.

and I’m cursin’ your name
You’re so in love that you act insane
And that’s the way I loved you
Breathe

It’s 2 a.m., feelin’ like I just lost a friend
Hope you know this ain’t easy, easy for me

Enchanted

The lingering question kept me up, 2 a.m., who do you love?
I wonder ’til I’m wide awake

Keep checking for the next blog! Ciao! :)

Sisters Red

I’ve done this book a few days ago and now I would like to share it with you on my blog. The books is ‘Sisters Red’ by Jackson Pearce — Pearce also wrote the book, ‘As You Wish’.

“Sisters Red” is about 2 sisters who lost their mother who was eaten up by a Fenris (werewolf). Both of them were very little then. When they lost their mother, Scarlett March lives to hunt the Fenris defending her sister, Rosie March, from brutal attack. Armed with a razor-sharp hatchet and blood-red cloak, Scarlett is an expert at luring and slaying the wolves. Scarlett is determine to protect other young girls from a grisly death and her raging heart will not rest until every single wolf is dead.

Owing Scarlett her life, Rosie hunts hunt ferociously alongside her. But even as more girls’ bodies pile up in the city and the Fenris seem to be gaining power, Rosie dreams of a life beyond the wolves. She finds herself drawn to Scarlett’s only friend, Silas Reynolds, a young woodsman who is deadly with an ax. Does loving him mean betraying her sister and all that they’ve worked for?

The book is made of Scarlett’s points of view and Rosie, is the other one. The author wrote Scarlett’s in Chapter 1 and then Rosie’s points of view in Chapter 2. It’s alternate. It’s a well paced book with heart-stopping action, heorines real enough to bleed, guys downright dirty, darkly powerful, risky love and romance hot! It’s all in one book!! I really enjoyed the book! It’s suspenseful too! LOVE it!

You need to get this in your hands now and read it as soon as you get to grab it! Don’t wait for too long! ;)
